As a new business, we are starting to see some "regulars" here at the store. Always nice to be able to greet your customers by name when they walk in the door.
Granted, I generally can't remember what I had for dinner the night before...but that is another story for another day.
So last week we had a new customer come by and rent a piece of equipment from us for a day. Everything went off without a hitch.
As we were "chewing the fat" upon the return of the equipment the next day, he made the comment "I thought ya'll were some rinky dink operation". I was incredulous...for a nanosecond. As a new business, opened during a pandemic (timing is everything), we are working extra hard to make sure everything is perfect in these "honeymoon" months since our opening.
The look of utter amazement as he gazed our EXTENSIVE inventory of equipment in the showroom and toured the full service equipment repair shop quickly changed his mind. Even though our "big toys" (excavator, skid steer loader, transport trailers) were out on rent, he was pleasantly impressed.
As he was walking out the door, he made the comment that he would definitely become a regular (if I can just remember his name) and he would spread the word about our not so "rinky dink" operation.
In the immortal words of Will Rogers: " You never get a second chance to make a first impression".
