We live in the state of Washington and they just made it mandatory to wear masks in public, so I needed some way to keep our face masks organized and displayed so we won’t forget them as we leave to go out. I had them in the little green basket on our shoe storage, but that was a big mess and people were grabbing the wrong masks that didn’t fit them. So I went out looking for a way to hold the masks and separate them so everyone could find their masks easily. This is what I came up with and I love how it turned out!
This is how I made the DIY face mask holder.
I found this sign at Hobby Lobby on clearance but it’s something that you can easily make with just a piece of wood and hooks and then you can add the cute hello. to it (I have a cut file for it).
The first thing I did was painted the wood. It was pretty scratched up, plus I watched a gray instead of black. So I took off the hooks and then taped up the sides with tape.
Then I painted the board gray. I used a spray paint because it’s quick and dries quickly.
I then took off the tape and put the hello. onto the board. I cut it out of Oracal 651 matte white vinyl. I used my Silhouette CAMEO to cut out the vinyl and then used transfer tape to put it onto the board. You can get the cut file here:
I ended up buying two of the boards because I wanted 7 hooks and it was a good deal, so I bought the second board just for the hooks. The top is what it looked like before I painted it. I put the hooks back onto the board and then I added the 3 other hooks.
And that’s it! I put it onto the wall and then added the face masks. Everyone has their own hook, so they will know which masks are theirs. If you want to see how I make these face masks, check out this post.
We plan on having the clean masks on the board and then the dirty ones can go into the baskets and I will wash them, that way they aren’t wearing dirty face masks.
I love how it turned out and how the face masks look on them. If you would have told me that I would be making something like this 6 months ago, I would have laughed if your face… crazy world right now.
I actually really love the font for the hello, it’s chunky and bold and cute.
I made this sign awhile ago but I thought that I would share the cut file for it too, because I love this saying and reminder for all of us to be kind and make someone smile everyday. You can get the cut file for this sign here:
